Co-occurring
What is it?
It’s often the case that someone is struggling with disordered eating may also have a co-occurring disorder. An individual suffering from anorexia and bulimia might also suffer from clinical disorders such as alcohol addiction, drug addiction, anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, or PTSD to name a few.
Why It’s Important
To effectively deal with an individual’s eating disorder, overlapping illnesses need to be taken into account. If the patient is suffering from both bulimia and substance use disorder their treatment program must be adapted to address these issues. Mind Over Body creates a personalized recovery model to address individual symptoms and behaviors.
